Dr Izolda Heydenrych
Director and co-founder
Izolda is Director and co-founder of the Cape Town Cosmetic Dermatology Centre and currently in full-time private practice. Before specializing in Dermatology, she obtained an Hons.B.Sc in Nuclear Medicine (University Stellenbosch) and Diploma in Anaesthetics (SA College of Medicine). She is Immediate – President of the South African Society for Dermatological Surgery (SASDS), served on the Executive of the Dermatological Society of South Africa and is a founding/EXCO member of the African Womens’ Dermatological Society (AWDS). In 2018 she was awarded the SASDS Lifetime award for exceptional contribution to procedural dermatology. Due to her passion for teaching, she holds an Honorary Consultant’s position in Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Stellenbosch where she pioneered formal aesthetic training for Dermatologists. At national level she has also instituted formal resident training (RATS) for South African Universities, the Short Courses in Cosmetic Dermatology and the Dermatology Aesthetic Review Meetings (DARM). Under her SASDS leadership Certifications in Topicals and Cosmeceuticals, Lasers and Sclerotherapy have been formalized. Izolda is actively involved the organization of educational events for the dermatology fraternity and aesthetic medicine in general and was Course Director for the Injectables for Africa Congress in 2017. She also heads HeyEdAcademy for Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine training (Toxin and Filler Technique, Cadaver Dissection Courses, Practice management, Basic Business skills and Neuro-leadership, Clinical Photography, Dermatology for the non-Dermatolgist, Presentation Skills etc) Izolda has a keen interest in Complication Prevention in the field of Injectables and international Publications during the past 2 years include: Practical Strategies for Safe Aesthetic Practice (British Library) The role of Patient Selection Criteria in the prevention of filler complications (Clin Cosmetic and Investigative Dermatology 2015; 8: 1-10) A 10 Point plan for safer filler practice (J. Clinical and Investigative Dermatology Nov 2018) She is an invited Chapter author and co-editor for the new Global Facial Consensus book to be launched March 2019. She also has a keen interest in the Consultation Process, the neuroscience of Trust and Empathy and also the differential approach to the various aesthetic generations (eg Gen Z and Millenials) Izolda is an international KOL for Allergan, SKinCeuticals, L’Oréal and La Roche Posay and lectures extensively at both local and international level. She has been elected to FLAME (Female Leaders in Aesthetic Medicine) and is one Dr Mauricio de Maio’s 7 International Experts for MD Codes Training. She holds 3 Licentiates in solo piano and chamber music and other hobbies include cooking and ceramic sculpting. She is married to dentist and has 2 sons.
