Stretchmarks
SKIN CONCERN: STRETCHMARKS
Stretchmarks occur during pregnancy, puberty or a period of rapid weight gain when your body grows faster than your skin can keep up with.
This causes the elastic fibres just under the surface of the skin to break, resulting in stretch marks. Pregnancy can leave you with stretchmarks on your belly and breasts, the two areas that grow the most. Stretchmarks can also show up on the thighs, buttocks and upper arms. The marks often start out reddish or purple, but gradually fade to white or grey.
We treat stretchmarks through Pulsed-dye laser to reduce the vascularity. Once they obtain a white, silvery look, treatment varies between Microdermabrasion and Fraxel.
