Dr Ean Smit
Dr Ean Smit graduated from Stellenbosch University as a Dermatologist, after which he attended the Department of Dermatology at Baylor University Medical Centre in Dallas, Texas.
He underwent further training in Cutaneous Laser Surgery at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute and the South Western Medical Centre in Dallas as well as at the Scripps Laser Centre in La Jolla, California and in Boston, Massachusetts.
Ean is Director and co-founder of the Cape Town Cosmetic Dermatology Centre in Cape Town and a frequent lecturer on all aspects of laser surgery. He is also a noted national authority on Cutaneous Laser Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Ean’s main focus is skin rejuvenation, using non-surgical methods and laser technology.
Dr Izolda Heydenrych
Dr Izolda Heydenrych is Director and co-founder of the Cape Town Cosmetic Dermatology Centre and is currently in full-time private practice.
After completing her medical curriculum, Izolda obtained a Diploma in Anaesthetics and BSc (Hons) in Nuclear Medicine before specializing as a dermatologist. Dr Heydenrych is co-founder and director of the Cape Town Cosmetic Dermatology Centre and currently in full-time private practice. She specializes in Hyaluronic acid fillers and Botulinum Toxin injections.
Due to her passion for teaching, she also holds an Honorary Consultant’s position in Aesthetics at the University of Stellenbosch where she pioneered formal aesthetics training for dermatologists. This Short Course in Cosmetic Dermatology (SCCD) has now become an international project under the auspices of Stellenbosch University and the SASDS. She has also instituted the quarterly DARM meetings (Dermatology Aesthetic Review Meetings) which have now evolved to include all fraternities.
As of January 2016, Izolda initiated the Registrar Aesthetic Training Sequence (RATS) as formal registrar training at two Cape town Universities. She is the course director of Injectables for Africa, an Injectables and Anatomy Course presented in 2017 by the SASDS and Stellenbosch University and also heads HeyED, an educational initiative for promoting safe aesthetic practice.
Izolda is the current president of the South African Dermatologic Surgery Society (SASDS), serves on the Exco of the Dermatological Society of South Africa (DSSA), is a founding and Exco member of the African Womens’ Dermatological Society and was elected to the international board of the Assembly of National Affiliated Societies (ANAS). She was the corresponding author for the international consensus publication: Practical Strategies for Safe Aesthetics Practice and also serves on the Allergan International Advisory Board for Complication Prevention and Management.
She is on the Faculty of the International Allergan Medical Aesthetics Institute and a Key Opinion Leader and speaker for SkinCeuticals and La Roche Posay. Izolda is a regularly invited speaker to numerous international congresses and is an international speaker and trainer for botulinum toxin and injectable fillers.
She holds three licentiates in solo piano and chamber music and does ceramic sculpting as a hobby.
