Acne
SKIN CONCERN: ACNE
Acne is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. It appears as white heads, black heads and pimples on the skin and it usually happens during puberty, but can also occur in other life stages due to hormonal changes.
If over-the-counter (non-prescription) products haven’t cleared up your acne, your doctor can prescribe stronger medications or other therapies.
– Control your acne
– Avoid scarring or other damage to your skin
– Make scars less noticeable
Light Therapy
A variety of light-based therapies have been tried with success. Light therapy targets the bacteria that cause acne inflammation as well as existing inflammation and swelling.
Microdermabrasion
This treatment unclogs the pores by removing the top layer of dead skin cells with fine crystals being blasted onto the skin. This makes it harder for the skin to form blackheads and pimples.
